Newton County is the home of
4 birding sites within the Big Thicket Loop of the Great Texas
Coastal Birding Trail. This Loop is the largest in Texas
covering over 400 miles with a total of 19 sites. Each site is
marked with a Trail Logo and unique site number beginning with UTC
(Upper Texas Coast). |

maintain unique and distinctive "set-aside" nature sites.

Newton County is
abundant in fresh water for your recreational enjoyment. Our
Toledo Bend Lake, the largest man-made lake in the South, is just a
short drive from WHISPERING CREEK.
In addition, there are several large creeks that supply water to the
Sabine River and the fishing and sight-seeing opportunities are
second to none. |

history with preserved historic buildings and attractions unique to
